To celebrate its first National UberPOOL (car sharing) day for Thanksgiving 2015, Uber is having its People’s Uber Plan (requiring 2 or more guests to share an Uber taxi). The promotion will cost customers only 1.7 RMB per trip for the first two trips they make this Thursday (from 7am to 11pm), 26th of November inShanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu.
Though Thanksgiving is not one China’s main festivals, Uber has tried to utilise the celebration to bring about brand loyalty for the company, in a country with 1.5 billion potential customers. It proves again that Uber is very bold in its marketing activities and will take on headline-making promotional activities in order to increase sales, as well as gaining new and maintaining existing customers.
