Now, the growth of China is fueled by e-commerce. Become the first e-commerce market in the world in 2013, the Chinese are at the forefront of online shopping.
Foreign goods remaining popular with Chinese consumers compared to brands from home. Thus, by 2020, a forecast of a quarter of the total population of China is expected to order items through cross-border e-commerce.
This estimate implies a projection of 291.8 million online buyers who will spend $160 billion on cross-border e-commerce by 2020.
This represents an increase of 128 million cross-border online shoppers in 2015. The share of online shoppers who buy cross-border goods is expected to increase dramatically from one projection of 40% this year to 50.7% in 2020.
Chinese trust foreign Brands
There is a greater confidence in the quality of foreign products in the Chinese brands, especially regarding luxury items and food products such as powdered baby milk. Both Alibaba and JD.com giants are courting foreign luxury brands. Tmall Global owns Macy has among its resellers border, and its new luxury Mei.com channel will also include a cross-border component. 82.8 % of Chinese e-commerce market is dominated by two local players : Tmall (Alibaba) and JD.com (China Briefing).
The market of cross-border e-commerce in China, could not be completely easy for resellers. Recently, the Chinese government introduced new tax policy is to effectively raise the price of goods from abroad, which have generally been less expensive in a system of “tax package”. This new policy vaalue added tax (VAT) imposed on the import and consumption tax on items ordered from abroad. This has a particularly significant impact on e-retailers that sell luxury goods, since only the elements that are 2.000 RMB (USD $308) or less will be subject to tax relief.
Furthermore, B2C (business-to-consumer) will become increasingly popular with consumers.
Thus, since the merchants who sell these B2C platforms must be licensed, they are considered more trustworthy.
